High-level civil aviation team to inspect facilities at Bangalore’s Devanahalli airport

New Delhi: A high-level team of officials from the ministry of civil aviation is visiting Bangalore on Friday for an on-the-spot inspection of facilities being developed at the new international airport at Devanahalli before grant of a license.
The airport will open for commercial traffic on 30 March, after inauguration by the prime minister.
Ministry officials had made an earlier inspection of the greenfield airport on 8 February and offered several suggestions on various aspects of the project so that it would fully adhere to the required norms. Apparently, the ministry is now concerned whether these suggestions are being implemented.
According to ministry sources, the team is being led by joint secretary, ministry of civil aviation, KN Srivastava and consists of K Ramalingam, chairman, Airports Authority of India and Kanu Gohain, director general, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
As a regulatory body, the DGCA will issue the licence to the airport before it becomes functional.
The AAI will provide the personnel who will man the air traffic control (ATC) systems.
