Jet Airways says nothing outstanding to AAI by way of landing, parking fees
04 Aug 2008
Mumbai: Responding to reports in the media that the Airports Authority of India had warned defaulting airlines to pay up their dues with regard to landing and parking fees, India's largest private carrier, Jet Airways, said its position with respect to payments were well within the normal credit limits prescribed by the AAI.
"Jet Airways and JetLites' outstanding with the AAI as on 31 March 2008, stood at a very small fraction and well within the normal credit limit," Jet Airways chief executive officer, Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, said in a statement. The dues were subsequently fully cleared in April, he said.
Jet Airways also has security deposits with the AAI in the form of bank guarantees at any point of time, Prock-Schauer noted.
Reports had said that the AAI was worried about accumulated dues, now said to be in the region of Rs1,000 crore, and that it had given extra time to defaulting airlines to clear them. These reports suggested that Jet Airways alone owed Rs395crore. (See: AAI asks airlines to clear outstanding landing and parking charges)
