Thiruvananthapuram to undertake runway extension project

Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, located in the state's capital, has announced plans to extend the airport's runway.

It expects the project to be complete in about six weeks. The runway will be closed for eight hours each day in this time.

Thiruvananthapuram airport is currently undertaking a $62.3 million expansion programme, on 27 hectares of land.

Phase 1 of the project is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2008.
