New Delhi: Officials of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have said that developers of new greenfield airports in the country should not charge differing user development fees from domestic and international travellers. They have also stressed that such levies ought to be governed by regulatory authorities.

Responding to queries from the media, IATA officials said that differential costs for passengers could not be justified as domestic and international passengers used the same facilities at an airport.

They have also stressed that India needs to speed up the establishment of a regulatory body, so that the levy of such user development fees could be monitored and regulated.

The Airport Economic Regulator Authority Bill is currently pending in the Parliament.
