Bangalore: Enstrom Helicopter Corporation has sold two helicopters to the Bangalore-based Apoorva Aviation for its newly formed aviation academy located at Vidyaranyapura in Bangalore. The academy is to start a state-of-the-art e-based flying school for both helicopters and airplanes by the second half of 2007.
The two helicopters, a 480B turbine and a 280FX piston, will be delivered as early as May or June 2007, according to Apoorva Aviation's requirements. Colonel Sanjeev Choudhary, CEO of Monarch International, Enstrom's sole dealer in India, and V Suresh Babu, chairman of Apoorva Aviation, announced the sale today. Enstrom president and CEO Jerry Mullins said that training was a very important market in India, and that Enstrom was poised to service it.
Founded in 1959, the US-based Enstrom Helicopter Corporation manufactures a complete line of helicopters, including the piston-powered F28F and 280FX, and the turbine powered 480B. The latter is available as a three-seater advanced trainer or as a three-to-five place VIP aircraft. For law enforcement applications the 480B is known as the 'Guardian', and the 28F is called the 'Sentinel'.
