Jet Airways and Hutch offer mobile ticketing through JetWallet
21 Feb 2007
Jet Airways and Hutch announced Tuesday that they have launched a joint mobile ticketing programme. The programme, 'M-ticketing with JetWallet' will make use of a mobile transaction technology pioneered by Sam Pitroda and his Chicago-based company C-SAM.
According to Jet and Hutch executives, the solution will allow users to book, pay and generate e-tickets on their phones. Initially the Jet offering will be available exclusively to Hutch subscribers with Java-enabled phones with GPRS capability, as also those who are Jet Privilege members. Such e-tickets, in turn, will be emailed to customers who can then print them for use as regular tickets.
JetWallet is software that can be downloaded directly on to mobile phones. It allows E-tickets to be automatically stored on mobile phones, allowing future access. It allows customers to view past bookings, change, and cancel or get refund on tickets booked through the solution.
