Q1 orders for Bombardier aircraft up exponentially

Bangalore, Toronto, Canada: Bombardier released strong first-quarter results this week, with enough indications that growth for the firm will continue for the rest of the fiscal year. It said that revenue for the aerospace division increased from $2 billion during the same period last year, to $2.3 billion this year.
Aircraft orders are up exponentially, with the company taking orders for 174 aircraft, 83 of them business jets, in the first quarter of the year. This compares to orders for 52 aircraft, 33 of them business jets, in the first quarter last year.
Such big orders have contributed to a backlog worth $15.4 billion, which is the company's highest ever. Bombardier officials said that customers for a new Global would have to wait 24 months, while those for a Challenger will wait 14 months. Lear jet customers will now wait 11 months for delivery.
The company has said that it will "increase business jet production this year," without specifying the aircraft whose production would be ramped up.
