DAVP empanels 29 agencies

The Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity (DAVP) has empanelled 29 agencies to handle its creative duties over a period of a year.

Industry sources say that DAVP plans to spend Rs2,000 crore this year, as against nearly Rs 1,500 crore last year.

DAVP is the nodal ad agency for the Government of India and all the ads for central government ministries and departments have to be routed through DAVP.

It has been the primary multimedia advertising agency of the central government for about six decades now.

The 29 empanelled agencies have been categorised into three groups based on their annual turnover. The eligibility criterion for Group A agencies is a turnover over of Rs100 crore with six agencies - Concept Communications Ltd, Span Communication, PerceptH, Dentsu, Crayons and Lowe Lintas, aving been empanelled in this group.

Rediffusion DYR has been empanelled in the Group B category, the eligibility criterion for which is a turnover between Rs50 crore and Rs100 crore.

The eligibility criterion for Group C is having a turnover between Rs25 crore and Rs50 crore, in which the empanelled agencies are Brand Curry Communications, Pamm Advertising & Marketing, Impact Advertising Pvt Ltd, Corporate Media Men Advertising Pvt Ltd, Centum Advertising & Marketing Pvt Ltd, Goldmine Advertising Ltd, Falcon Advertisers, Snappers Advertising & Marketing, Promodome Communications, Interads Advertising, Adknack Advertising, Nirman Advertising, Garuda Advertising, Associate Advertising Pvt Ltd, Mercantile Advertising, Sharad Advertising, Mode Advertising & Marketing Pvt Ltd, Prime Time Communications, Akshara Advertising, Indus Adcom Ltd, Moulis Advertising Service, and BEI Confluence Communication Ltd.

The total expenditure on print and electronic advertisements by various government departments and public sector organisations through DAVP in 2008-09 was Rs468.12 crore.
The ministry of information and Broadcasting says that till the end of July this year the DAVP spent Rs60.3 crore.
