Philip Morris International's cigarette brand Marlboro is set to launch its first new cigarette brand in two years called Sensation. The packaging of Marlboro Sensation is shaped like a lighter.

Marlboro Sensation will be unveiled in the market on 27 August.

Marlboro's product portfolio includes Marlboro Red, Marlboro Gold, previously called Marlboro Lights, and Marlboro Menthol.

A trial of the product in Russia came in packs styled like cigarette lighters, with an opening at the side.

The cigarette industry is mired by restrictions in terms of advertising. Recent proposals under the health ban could ban point of sale displays for tobacco and force shops to sell tobacco products from under the counter.

Marlboro's product portfolio includes Marlboro Red,  Marlboro Menthol, Marlboro Gold previously called Marlboro Lights, Marlboro Silver Marlboro Filter Plus and Marlboro Filter Plus Extra.

The four most popular American cigarette trademarks are Marlboro, Kool, and Kent and own 70 per cent of the international cigarette market.
