Nikon India, which markets cameras and photo copying equipment, is planning to invest Rs62 crore to strengthen its brand image and market share in India.
As per the initiative, it plans to establish exclusive Nikon Coolpix zones throughout the country and increase their number from 40 to 80 this year, divisional general manager (imaging division) Hiroshi Takashina told the media.
The zones are to help Nikon improve its brand visibility and better cater to its clients.
The first such Nikon Coolpix center was recently launched in Orissa.
Business Standard quoted Takashina as saying, "Orissa is a growing market for Nikon and we are expecting this market to contribute three per cent of our overall sales by the end of 2010. We hope that our exclusive Coolpix zone in the city will enhance customer engagement and buying experience as well as augment access and availability."
It also plans to launch new models in the country.
Nikon India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, Tokyo, started its Indian operations in May 2007.
