Raj Nayak re-elected as president of IAA

NDTV Media Ltd's Raj Nayak has been re-elected for a second term as president of the India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) for 2009-10 at its Annual General Meeting held in Mumbai yesterday.

The new managing committee elected is as follows: Kaushik Roy (president - Brand Strategy & Marketing Communication, Reliance Industries Ltd) as vice-president; Lynn de Souza (chairman and CEO, Lintas Media) as honorary secretary; and Jaydeep Gandhi (director, Jaya Advertising) as honorary treasurer.

The other members of the managing committee are Sam Balsara, chairman and managing director, Madison Communications; Ramesh Narayan, founder, Canco Advertising; MG Parmeshwaran, executive director and CEO - Mumbai, DraftFCB+Ulka; Srinivasan K Swamy, chairman and managing director, RK Swamy BBDO; Avinash Pandey, vice-president and Head of Revenue – India, Star News; and, as special invitee, Pheroza Bilimoria, managing director, Business India. Immediate past president Pradeep Guha continues as an ex-officio member of the committee.

IAA is a one-of-a-kind global network of over 4,000 members through 56 Chapters in 76 countries, which champions marketing communications as a force for growth in all free market societies. It believes that advertising revenues ensure an independent, pluralistic, affordable media with competing channels of information for consumers, which are the foundation of democracy itself.

The highlight of the AGM was the presence of a founder Member, Roger CB Pereira, who took part in the proceedings.

The India Chapter of IAA was incorporated in July 1991. IAA in India promotes the freedom to compete through responsible commercial speech, defends consumer choice made possible by commercial speech, which informs, inspires and empowers individuals to raise their sights and reach for the life they want; upholds brand building communications as a force that can enable consumers to make an informed choice. It also fosters a healthy environment for the growth of globalisation in the communications industry. The India Chapter has a membership of 169 top professionals representing marketing, advertising and the media. Membership to IAA is by invitation only. The India Chapter also has Young Professional membership for the Next Gen.
