Reliance Communications awards media duties to OMD, MEC

Optimum Media Direction (OMD) India and MEC have won the media mandate for Reliance Communications after a multi-agency pitch.
Mudra Max was the incumbent agency for the account pegged at Rs400 crore.
The wireless data operations and DTH business has been awarded to OMD while the CDMA, GSM and 3G services will be handled by MEC.
OMD, part of the Omnicom Group, was adjudged the most creative media agency in the world 2010 by The Gunn Report for Media, the 2009 global media agency of the year by Adweek, 2009 media agency of the year by Advertising Age.
MEC is part of the WPP Group and was formed at the end of 2001 from the merger of media agencies The Media Edge and Chris Ingram Associates (CIA).
The results for Reliance Communications creative business are expected soon.
