Children's iconic breakfast cereal Sugar Puffs is changing its name to Honey Monster Puffs after 60 years as one of Britain's best-loved breakfast cereal brands, as maker Halo foods looks to address consumer concerns about sugar and revive sales.

Halo has slashed sugar content and increased honey by 20 per cent,in the rebranded cereal.

The revamp would see the Sugar Puffs brand consigned to history as it is axed from packs at the end of the month.

From November new-look packaging would start to appear on supermarket shelves, which would include the traffic light labelling system of amber, green and red to show fat, sugar and salt content.

While sugar would continue to be red, the level would come down from 9.3g per 30g portion to 8.6g - less than Kellogg's kiddies' favourites Coco Pops and Frosties that had 11g of sugar per serving, The Grocer reported.
