Radio One scouts for music jockeys in colleges
16 Sep 2010
Radio station 94.3 Radio One's talent hunt, Radio One College Championship, to scout for music jockeys (MJs) amongst college students across India has begun.
Entering its 6th year, the flagship initiated by 94.3 Radio One is a platform to identify and mentor potential talent for the radio industry. Radio enthusiasts who get past the semifinals will get a chance to intern at Radio One and learn the workings of a radio station.
The championship will be supported with an extensive teaser campaign run on Radio One prior the registrations inviting potential contestants across all colleges to participate in the initiative. On-ground registrations and auditions will follow registrations in seven cities.
Radio One has roped in youth brands for the championship, and Nokia is the title sponsor for the event.
Shyju Varkey, national head of marketing, 94.3 Radio One, said, ''Radio One College Champions is 94.3 Radio One's way of spreading the love for radio amongst its most potent audience. So far there have been around more than 150 registrations in colleges across the country.''
The registrations will be held for two weeks, after which 10 teams across 10 colleges will be chosen. The teams will then be invited to the Radio one studios for training where they write their own scripts, prepare links and produce the shows too.
