Thermax Ltd has secured a Rs516-crore order from Jindal Energy Botswana Pty Ltd for supply of two 550 TPH Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion (CFBC) boilers.
Thermax Babcock and Wilcox Energy Solutions Limited (TBWES), a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, secured the contract, which involves design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, supply, supervision, and performance testing of these boilers for a 600 MW energy project in Botswana.
This is a repeat order, which makes Thermax the sole partner in the 2-phase 600 MW project in the Southern African country.
The order takes the company’s order backlog for the first quarter of FY25 to Rs10,681 crore.
The greenfield project is expected to be completed within 26 months, and start supplying power to the national utility grid.
Thermax is a leader in providing comprehensive solutions for the energy industry globally with expertise in Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion (CFBC) boiler technology.
In India, Thermax has partnered with Ceres Power to manufacture Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell (SOEC) stack array modules (SAM) – a cost-effective technology for green hydrogen production.
The deployment of SOEC technology will make green hydrogen production cost-effective and accelerate the development of new hydrogen-based technologies.
Thermax is using pressurized SAM and SAM balance of module (SBM) based on its experience in heat integration and waste heat recovery to design and develop SOEC stack array modules.
The SOEC technology is said to be 26 per cent more efficient than currently available technologies as it can utilize steam from industrial process heat/waste heat recovery for hydrogen production.
