IAF drill, intruders cause panic at Hindon

A mock drill by the Indian Air force caused confusion as the Hindon airbase went into lockdown early today, forcing two schools within the premises to shut down.
Ghaziabad Police also sounded an alert at the airbase, about 30 km north of New Delhi, after two unidentified men were spotted entering the premises at 2 am.
Uttar Pradesh police officials said, one of the men had been detained by the air force authorities while entering the base and was being questioned, while the other managed to sneak in.
IAF authorities shut down two Kendriya Vidyalayas on the premises as a precautionary measure, said Ghaziabad Police circle officer Ashish Shrivastav.
Sources in the Air Force told Hindustan Times that there were intelligence inputs of a possible Pathankot style attack at the base, hence the drill was ordered by air headquarters to check the preparedness. The Hindon Air Base
Earlier this week police arrested three suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed sympathisers from Delhi, saying they may have been planning an attack in the national capital area, including on the Hindon airbase in Ghaziabad.
Indian defence establishments have been on alert since the January attack by Pakistan-based Jaish militants on the Pathankot air base in Punjab that derailed peace talks between India and Pakistan.
