Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd (KSSL), the defence arm of Bharat Forge Ltd, has bagged a contract to supply artillery guns to the United States, making it the first-ever Indian company to export artillery cannons to the US.
KSSL has signed a letter of intent with AM General, USA, for the supply of artillery platforms, including mounted, towed, and ultra-light gun systems in 105mm and 155mm calibres.
The LOI, signed at the IDEX 2025 defence exhibition in Abu Dhabi, marks a significant milestone in KSSL’s capability in the manufacture of advanced artillery guns and India-US defence cooperation.
KSSL also displayed its innovative 155 mm mounted gun at the IDEX 2025, which is a first for a heavy artillery system.
The Multi-terrain Artillery Gun (MArG) is the world’s first 155 mm system mounted on a 4×4 high mobility vehicle.
Guns heavier than 105 mm are either towed or mounted on heavy platforms like 6x6 trucks. The integration of the 23.5-tonne system increases its firepower, range, and mobility.
The artillery system has a range of over 36 kilometres (22 miles) with conventional rounds and a firing rate of 10 rounds in 3 minutes in intense mode and 42 rounds in 60 minutes in sustained mode.
The MArG can hold 18 rounds and start firing in 1.5 minutes during the day and 2 minutes at night.
It is also compatible with both NATO and Indian ammunition, which ensures versatility and interoperability with allied forces.
KSSL specialises in designing and developing indigenous weapon systems, off-road mobility solutions, and high-tech military products.
