German ‘jihadist’ kills 1 in knife attack

At least one person was killed and three others were seriously injured after a man attacked passengers with a knife at a train station in the Munich area in southern Germany early today.
The attack took place at around 4.50 am and the suspected perpetrator was arrested shortly afterwards.
Police were checking witness statements that the man shouted "Allahu Akbar" (God is Great) during the attack, Bayerischer Rundfunk reported.
One of the victims was initially in a critical condition but died later in hospital, a spokesperson at the Bavarian state criminal investigation office told The Independent.
Germany, which is playing a supporting role in the fight against Islamic State, has not suffered a major attack by Islamist militants the like of which neighbouring France and Belgium have experienced.
