An Intelligence Bureau staffer was shot and thrown into the drain allegedly by anti-CAA rioters in Delhi’s Chand Bagh are on Tuesday evening while returning home from duty.

The body of Ankit Sharma, 26, was fished out from a drain in northeast Delhi's riot-hit Chand Bagh area where he lived, officials said.
Sharma’s family has now said that Aam Aadmi Party’s Haji Tahir Hussain from Mustafabad is to be blamed for his death. Reports suggest that his body had bullet injuries. Sharma, a new entrant in service, was said to be undergoing training in the IB.
His body was taken to the GTB Hospital for an autopsy.  "He left home around 5.30 pm on Tuesday and has been missing since then," his brother Ankur said.  On Tuesday evening, mobs roamed Chand Bagh and other areas, pelting stones and setting property on fire.
Sharma, one of the 22 killed in the communal violence over the citizenship amendment law, is survived by his parents, brother and sister. His father is also a serving assistant sub-inspector with Delhi Police.
North-East Delhi has been witnessing ensuing violence with mobs taking to streets. The total death toll has now reached 24 and hundreds have been injured. According to media reports, Delhi Police officials, on Wednesday, met members of the Aman Committee in Shahdara's Usmanpur area in connection with the matter.
“Extensive interaction with the local community is helping to ease the anxiety. The situation is peaceful in these areas. People are requested not to pay attention to rumours," Delhi Police said.
It was further reported that Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik has said that normalcy has returned in North-East district to a large extent and that assurance has come from his side that senior officers are on rounds and extra forces have been given. "Various confidence-building measures are being taken and things are being brought back to normal," Patnaik had said.
