Militants, security forces in gun battle in Kashmir’s Anantnag

An encounter started between security forces and militants in south Kashmir's Anantnag district early today. Police said fresh exchange of fire between terrorist and security forces is currently underway in area.
The Army has cordoned off the area and a search operation has been launched in Hassanpora village in Bijbehara area, after the Army was informed about the presence of militants, based on specific intelligence inputs.
The police said as the security forces were conducting the search operation, the militants fired upon them triggering an encounter.
Firing was going on till last reports came in, and further details were awaited.
In Jammu and Kashmir encounters are a common affair now; a group of heavily armed militants also attacked an army camp in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
Earlier, on 29 November, a jawan was injured after an encounter broke out between infiltrating militants and the Border Security Force troops along International Border in Samba sector.
On November 16 two unidentified militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Sopore area. They were confronted by the security forces during a search operation at village Dursoo near Dangiwacha.
The militants had opened fire on noticing the movement of security forces, triggering an encounter.
