The eight-member judicial commission from Pakistan, in Mumbai to record the statements of key witnesses in the on 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks case, recorded the statements of three witnesses on Saturday (See: Mumbai: 60-hour siege brought to a close).

A Mumbai magistrate judge will now send the report to the Pakistani court, where the trial is being been conducted against the seven 26/11 accused.

This came a day after a heated argument, when the lawyer of key accused Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi demanded the right to cross examine the four Indian witnesses, which the court rejected.

Pakistani government officials have said that recording statements without cross-examinations will go against the prosecution of the trial against the seven accused in Pakistan.

The trial of the seven Pakistani suspects, including Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, has been stalled for over a year on technical reasons.

The Pakistani panel took down the versions of the investigating officer and two doctors who had conducted a post-mortem on the victims.
