Pakistani forces, it would seem, were only waiting for the US President Barak Obama's Delhi visit to end before resuming border attacks in Jammu & Kashmir.

Three civilians were injured on Thursday in the Jammu district following heavy shelling by Pakistan Rangers on the international border, police and Indian Army officials said. The Border Security Force retaliated with counter-firing.

"Pakistan Rangers used mortars to target civilian habitations in R S Pura and Arnia areas of Jammu district Thursday evening.

The three people injured were identified as Bhole Devi, aged 45, Darshan Lal, 40, and Vikki, a youth of 20, all residents of Arnia town. The extent of their injuries was not specified.

"Bhole Devi and Darshan Lal sustained critical injuries and they were brought to the government medical college hospital in Jammu for specialised treatment. Vikki has been admitted to primary medical health centre in Arnia for treatment as he sustained minor injuries," he added.

"The BSF has started retaliating with same calibre weapons. Heavy firing exchanges are going on in the area (as of 10 pm)," said the officer.
