US defence contractor CACI to acquire Six3 Systems for $820 mn

US defence contractor CACI International yesterday said it would buy Six3 Systems Inc from private equity firm GTCR, for about $820 million, in order to expand its presence in the high-growth cyberspace market.
Virginia-based Six3 Systems provides highly specialised support in the areas of cyber and signals intelligence; intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance; and intelligence operations to the US security agencies and Department of Defense, as well as to customers in the intelligence, defense and private sector.
Six3 Systems was formed in l 2009 when Chicago-based GTCR partnered with Robert Coleman and Jack Pearlstein to build a leading provider of specialised services to the defense intelligence community.
Six3 Systems employs around 1,600 people worldwide, and expects 2013 revenue to be around $470 million.
CACI said that the acquisition will expand its high-growth cyberspace market as well as build on its capabilities in its high-volume C4ISR - command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, and Intelligence market areas.
"The acquisition of Six3 Systems is the largest in the company's long and successful track record of more than 55 acquisitions that have delivered solid benefits for customers, shareholders, and employees of both CACI and the acquired companies," said, Dr J P London, chairman of CACI.
He said the acquisition positioned CACI with expanded capabilities to deliver high-value and in-demand solutions and services for highest-priority national security and defense challenges.

Founded in 1962, CACI provides information solutions and services in support of US security missions and government transformation for intelligence, defense, and federal civilian customers.
The Arlington, Virginia-based company employs 15,000 people working in over 120 offices worldwide and generated revenues of $3.8 billion in 2012.
