Fast Attack Craft INS Koswari commissioned

Visakhapatnam: The ninth, indigenously built fast attack craft (FAC), INS Koswari, was commissioned into the Indian Navy here on Tuesday. The induction will strengthen the coastal surveillance capabilities of the Indian Navy.
The vessel was commissioned by Indian Army's general officer commanding-in-chief , eastern command, Lieutenant General Bikram Singh, at the naval base here.
The ship is named after Koswari, a picturesque island off Tuticorin.
The vessel has been designed and constructed by the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineer Ltd (GRSE) of Kolkata. The ship, measuring 52 metres in length and displacing 325 tonnes, can achieve speeds in excess of 30 knots.
The ship is manned by four officers and 35 sailors.
The fast attack craft is built for extended coastal and offshore surveillance, and is equipped with advanced MTU engines and latest communication sets.
