Jain Irrigation bags Rs168-crore sprinkler irrigation project in Karnataka

Jain Irrigation Systems has won a Rs168.3 crore micro irrigation project in Shiggaon from Karnataka`s Neeravari Nigam, a division of the state's water resources department.
Jain Irrigation secured the project through a national competitive bidding, the company said in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The company will undertake survery, design, planning, supply and execution of the integrated micro irrigation project.
The project involves construction of a distribution system, which uses the piping network and further installation of on-farm micro-irrigation on 9,900 hectares of the command area. It also includes providing power transmission network. The company would also be maintaining the project.
Besides, the project involves formation of co-operative societies of water users in convenient blocks.
Jain Irrigation manufactures drip and sprinkler irrigation systems and components, PVC, polyethylene and polypropylene piping systems, plastic sheets, dehydrated onions and vegetables, processed fruits, tissue culture, hybrid and grafted plants, greenhouses, poly and shade houses, bio-fertilisers; solar water heating systems and solar photovoltaic appliances (solar lighting systems) and bio-energy sources.
The company also renders consultancy for complete or partial project planning and implementation of watershed or wasteland projects, crop selection and rotation etc.
