The National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) has registered more than 16.4 million farmers and over 1.24 lakh farmers on its platform and has carried out transactions of a total volume of 2,58,76,016 tonnes, valued at Rs71,069 crore, as of 30 June 2019, according to government figures.
National Agriculture Market (e-NAM), launched by the government on 14 April 2016, is envisaged as a pan-India electronic trading platform with the objective of creating online transparent competitive price discovery system to facilitate farmers and to ensure remunerative prices for their produce.
So far, 585 wholesale regulated markets across 16 states and two union territories (UTs) have been integrated with e-NAM platform.
Giving details of agriculture based trading portals launched in the country, union minister for agriculture and farmers welfare Narendra Singh Tomar in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, said some state governments have already put in place integrated management systems for marketing of agricultural produce.
He said the Department of Agricultural Marketing of the government of Rajasthan launched the Rajasthan Integrated Mandi Management System (RIMMS) on 2 February 2016.
Karnataka too has its own electronic platform named “Unified Market Platform (UMP), which started operation in February 2014.
Maharashtra has implemented Computerized Auction System (CAS) in APMCs in the state since 2014.
