Biggest industry bosses join Rahul Gandhi in J&K

For the first time since Independence, some of the biggest names in industry have arrived in the Jammu & Kashmir capital of Srinagar along with Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, and more are expected to join them on Friday.

Bajaj Auto managing director Rajiv Bajaj, Wipro Group chief Azim Premji and HDFC chairman Deepak Parekh will be here on Friday to interact with students at Kashmir University.

This is the first time since 1947 that such a delegation of business leaders would be in Kashmir together.

Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit and Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi will also be arriving on Friday.

Gandhi, 42, had promised students during his visit in September 2011 that he would bring business leaders to the state to explore possibilities of setting up industry, and this is a fulfilment of that promise.
