The CPI inflation rate for the two groups were 11.52 per cent and 11.26 per cent, respectively, during June 2009, official data showed.

The all-India consumer price index numbers for agricultural and rural labourers (Base: 1986-87=100) in June 2010 increased by 7 points each to 547 points.

The rise in index, however, varied from state to state. In the case of agricultural labourers, it recorded an increase between 1 and 11 points in 19 states and remained stationary in one state.

Haryana, with 610 points, topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index level of 464 points stood at the bottom.

In the case of rural labourers, the index recorded an increase between 1 and 10 points in 19 states and remained stationary in one state. Haryana, with 606 points, topped the index table while Tripura, with the index level of 468 points, stood at the bottom.

The index for agricultural and rural labourers in Andhra Pradesh recorded the maximum increase of 11 and 10 points, respectively, mainly due to increase in the prices of pulses, groundnut oil, mutton, fish (fresh), milk, onion, chillies green/dry, tamarind, vegetables and fruits, tobacco leaf and shirting cloth.
