Consumer price inflation for industrial, agricultural and rural workers down at 3.87%, 7.03% and 6.96% in April

The annual rate of inflation for industrial workers, based on the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers stood at 3.87 per cent in April 2024, against 5.09 per cent a year ago, 4.20 per cent in March against 5.79 per cent a year ago and 4.90 per cent in February against 6.16 per cent a year ago, data released by the Labour Bureau attached to the ministry of labour and employment showed.
The year on year consumer price inflation inflation rates for agricultural laboures and rural labourers (CPI-AL and CPI-RL) stood at 7.03 per cent and 6.96 per cent, respectively, in April 2024 while in March the rates stood at 7.15 per cent and 7.08 per cent, respectively.
The All-India CPI-IW for April 2024 increased by 0.5 point while that for March decreased by 0.3 point and that for February increased by 0.3 point.
The CPI-AL rose by 4 points and CPI-RL increased by 5 points in April 2024, while both the CPI-AL and CPI-RL increased by 1 point in each March.
Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers is compiled every month on the basis of retail prices collected from 317 markets spread over 88 industrially important centres in the country.
Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Labourers (CPI-AL) and Rural Labourers (CPI-RL) are compiles every month on the basis of retail prices collected from 600 villages spread over 20 states.
