03 Jun 2010
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has directed the income tax department to make special arrangements for receiving income tax returns during 28-31 July 2010, to handle the last minute rush.
The special arrangements include setting up additional counters from 28 July to 31 July 2010, to assist taxpayers in filing their income tax returns.
In Delhi, special counters will be set up in Pragati Maidan, where about 5 lakh income tax returns filings are expected in the last few days.
Similarly, special arrangements will be made in other major tax-collecting centers of the I-T department, including Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.
Details of the specific arrangements will be announced by respective chief commissioners of I-T later.
The counters will provide additional and value-added services such as free return forms, photocopy services, PAN application and information, e-filing and help desk services.
