India Inc to create 1.6 million jobs in 2011: survey

Chennai: A study on Indian employment trends and opportunities, made public Thursday, claims about 1.6 million jobs will be created in 2011 in the organised sector. According to a survey by the recruitment agency, Ma Foi Randstad, this will be the second consecutive year that a million plus jobs will be created in the organised sector.
"About one million jobs will be created in the organised sector for a second consecutive year," said E Balaji, managing director and CEO of Ma Foi Randstad.
"The changing market scenario across the globe and the growing significance of emerging markets like India and China, have led to many global corporates, including in these countries, to give direction to their growth and workforce strategies. This will have a positive impact and increase the momentum of our growth."
According to results of the Ma Foi Randstad Employment Trends Survey (MEtS), the top sectors that likely to generate more than two lakh jobs in 2011 are hospitality, real estate and construction, IT and ITeS, and media and entertainment.
In terms of growth percentage, the pharma, real estate and construction, IT and ITES, media and entertainment and the Banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sectors are likely to occupy the top slots.
According to Balaji, the healthcare sector will continue to top the table in 2011 and is expected to generate 248,500 new jobs.
