India's consumer price inflation accelerates to 6.07% in July

Consumer price inflation in the country based on the consumer price index accelerated at a faster-than-expected pace to 6.07 per cent in July, on the back of a spike in food prices, official data released today showed.
Food price inflation in July stood at 8.35 per cent, against 7.79 per cent in June.
Estimates based on price data collected from selected towns and rural areas showed that the general index rose to 6.07 per cent in July from 5.77 per cent in June and 3.69 per cent in July last year.
Food price inflation stood at 8.2 per cent in July this year against 7.99 per cent in June and 2.15 per cent in July last year.
Consumer price inflation for urban areas stood at 5.3 per cent in July 2016 aganst 5.2 per cent in June and 3.69 per cent in July last year.
Food price inflation in urban areas stood at 8.8 per cent in July 2016 against 8.1 per cent in June and 1.0 per cent in July last year.
Consumer price inflation for rural areas stood at 6.6 per cent in July this year against 5.2 per cent in June and 2.9 per cent in July 2015.
Food price inflation in rural areas stood at 8.2 per cent in July 2016 against 7.6 per cent in June and 2.7 per cent in July last year.
