Non-subsidised LPG to cost Rs16.50 more per cylinder; ATF prices up 0.6%
02 Jul 2014
A day after the hike in petrol and diesel prices, state-run fuel marketing companies today announced an increase of Rs16.50 per cylinder of non-subsidised cooking gas (LPG), attributing it again to high international prices of crude oil and natural gas.
The price of non-subsidised cooking gas (LPG) was hiked by Rs16.50 per cylinder and that of jet fuel by over half-a-per cent after international oil prices surged due to the ongoing Iraq crisis.
Allowing for local taxes, the price per 14.2-kg cylinder of LPG is now Rs966 in Kolkata, Rs949.50 in Mumbai and Rs924 in Chennai.
The increase in rates of non-subsidised LPG and ATF accompanies the Rs1.69 a litre hike in petrol and Rs0.50 a litre hike in diesel announced yesterday.
Non-subsidised LPG rates were last month cut by Rs23.50 per cylinder. This is the first hike in prices over the past six months
A subsidised LPG cylinder in Delhi costs Rs414.
IOC said losses on LPG have risen to Rs449 per subsidised cylinder from Rs432.71 in the previous month. The loss was Rs762.50 in January.
Separately, IOC also announced a hike in the price of jet fuel or aviation turbine fuel (ATF), by Rs413.78 per kilolitre (in Delhi), or 0.6 per cent, to Rs70,161.76 per kl.
The increase follows three straight monthly reductions, the last one of Rs1,285.89 per kl, or 1.81 per cent, which came into effect on 1 June.
In Mumbai, jet fuel costs Rs72,411.21 per kl as against Rs71,940.36 per kl previously, IOC said. The rates vary because of differences in local sales tax or VAT.
The three state-run fuel retailers – IOC, Hindustan Petroleum Corp and Bharat Petroleum Corp – revise jet fuel and non-subsidised LPG prices on the first of every month, based on the average international prices in the preceding month.
