Left Parties call for nation wide protest

New Delhi: The Left Parties supporting the UPA — the CPI(M), CPI, Forward Bloc and RSP and their seven frontal organisations have called for a nation wide protest today to force the government to scrap the decision to hike FDI cap in the telecom sector to 74 per cent and abandon the proposal to disinvest nationalised banks and other such steps.

Terming the performance of UPA government as ''grim'', the Forward Bloc, a Left supporter of the ruling coalition, warned the alliance of dire consequences if it was not sincere in implementing the national common minimum programme.
