CM vows prompt action on lawyers’ rampage in Bangalore

Karnataka chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda today said lawyers who launched an attack on journalists and policemen in Bangalore on Friday would be arrested today itself. He has already announced a judicial inquiry into the incident.
Heads of TV channels met the chief minister on Friday evening and said they were not satisfied with a mere judicial probe into the incident, which occurred inside court premises. They demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits.
"We don't accept a judicial probe into the incident. This is nothing but eyewash. The government is trying to evade its responsibilities," Suvarna News head Vishweshwar Bhatt told reporters following the meeting at Gowda's at his residence.
Bhatt complained that in spite of the video footage of the assault being in the public domain, both the police and government have failed to take action.
TV9 managing director Mahendra Mishra said Gowda promised strict action against the culprits. "We hope it happens on ground."
Mishra said the media hoped and believed that the problem would be rectified "completely and permanently". "That is why we are here (to meet the chief minister)," he said.
