Congress moves breach of privilege motion against Team Anna

The Congress Party today moved a breach of privilege notice against Team Anna in parliament going to the extent of even threatening Arvind Kejriwal with defamation proceedings.
While Congress MP Jagdambika Pal issued a breach of privilege notice against Anna Hazare and his team, union minister Virbhadra Singh has threatened to launch defamation proceedings against Arvind Kejriwal.
Many MPs cutting across party lines demanded that the speaker move a resolution condemning the unsavoury remarks by members of Anna Hazare's team during their renewed anti-corruption agitation at Jantar Mantar on Sunday.
Arvind Kejriwal, the man in the eye of the storm had said that parliament was facing a credibility crisis with 162 sitting MPs facing criminal charges, and had also said some were thieves and rapists.
Congress leader Salman Khurshid said, "We have always been saying that democracy allows that (protest) but there should be a method. I am glad everyone realises this now."
According to RJD MP Rajneeti Prasad, who tore up copies of the Lokpal Bill in parliament, Team Anna members needed to be booked under the National Security Act (NSA). "They should not be allowed to hold any campaigns and protests. They should be booked under NSA. Team Anna has attacked democracy and played with the sentiments of the people. They should be jailed for their anti-national comments," he said.
