Decision on Telengana in a month’s time: Shinde

Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde today said a decision on the long-pending Telangana issue will be announced within a month. He made the announcement after convening a meeting of leaders of eight different political parties of Andhra Pradesh on the Telengana issue.
However, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which is spearheading the statehood agitation, was not satisfied with the announcement.
"They have said this over a hundred times. They have not fulfilled their promises. They have cheated the people of Telangana again," TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao told reporters after coming out of the meeting.
Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy and two representatives each of the various political parties attended the meeting and expressed their views.
A home ministry release said the meeting was convened in a cordial atmosphere with almost all participants expressing the opinion that the central government should take a decision at the earliest.
Ltaer, addressing a press conference, the home minister said he has accepted the suggestion that a decision should be taken within a period of one month.
