The government proposes to set up a national innovation centre with the participation of all states, which will be complimented by science cities in each state, minister of state for science and technology and earth sciences YS Chowdary said.
Addressing a seminar on `Innovation: the torchbearer of 21st Century' held under the aegis of Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2015 at Gandhinagar on Monday, the minister said his ministry was thinking of establishing an Indian Innovation Centre and all states of the country will be members of this innovation centre.
Chowdhury said the central government is aware of the challenges that scientists are facing. He said that many scientists publish research papers but they seldom get proper connectivity and network.
Also, he said, several innovations in the country fail to get proper recognition.
Innovation would help women enhance their productivity, farmers to increase crop yields and improve personal health, improve health care through development of medical instruments and applications, Chowdary said while stressing the significance of innovation.
Innovation can solve the problem of how to showcase a product in the market and how to reach the needy, he added.
He said his ministry is committed to recognizing the need of people and promote the innovations for them.
Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel inaugurated the Gujarat Innovation portal and Gujarat National Law University's centre for intellectual property rights. Some MoUs were also signed with leading biotech and IT companies.
