S K Srivastava to be new Delhi chief secretary
31 Dec 2013
The union ministry of home affairs has cleared the appointment of S K Srivastava, a nominee of Delhi's new Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, as chief secretary of Delhi. He will replace D M Spolia, a 1976-batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer considered close to defeated Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit.
Srivastava is a 1980 batch IAS officer, and is at present posted as additional secretary and financial adviser in the union ministry of health and family welfare. He has earlier served as vice-chairman of the Delhi Development Authority; and as chief secretary of Goa.
Srivastava's appointment was apparently suggested by Delhi's principal secretary Rajender Kumar, who took over the post recently.
