Mumbai is set to host WAVES 2025 Summit, the first-ever event for the media and entertainment (M&E) sector, from 1 to 4 May 2025. The summit will bring together industry professionals, investors, creators and innovators, offering a global platform to connect, collaborate, innovate and contribute to the M&E sector, chief secretary of Maharashtra, Sujata Saunik has said.

WAVES will help identify India’s creative strengths and position it as a hub for content creation, intellectual property, and technological innovation, she said at a coordination meeting of officials of various ministries and departments of the centre and the state government on Friday.

The event will focus on industries and sectors, including broadcasting, print media, television, radio, films, animation, visual effects, gaming, comics, sound and music, advertising, digital media, social media platforms, generative AI, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and extended reality (XR).

Saunik said registration for WAVES will start soon.

She said the state administration, including the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, is working with the ministry of information and broadcasting, to ensure world-class infrastructure, hospitality, and logistics support to make the event a landmark occasion.

Senior officials from both the centre and the state government held a meeting to establish seamless coordination across logistics, hospitality, cultural activities, and administrative support, ensuring the highest standards of event management and global participation.
