The Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) has suggested to the Maharashtra government to examine the possibility of locating the proposed passenger water terminal at Ferry Wharf as against the proposed location at north of Radio Club.

Ferry Warf would be more convenient to the common people and operations there could be carried out even during the monsoon, minister of state for shipping Mukul Roy informed Rajya Sabha in written reply today.

He said the state government had made a request for allotment of land on nominal basis at north of Radio Club for passenger water transport terminal on the east coast of Mumbai to the Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT).

He said the shipping ministry had considered the request of the state government and the Mumbai Port Trust has found that the location at north of Radio Club was unsuitable for passenger water terminal. He said it would not be possible to operate service from there during monsoon as the sea near Radio Club gets very rough during monsoon.

He said a detailed proposal from the state government has not yet been received.
