The Delhi Airport Metro Express, which on Friday announced suspension of services on the high-speed corridor for an indefinite period, would reume service in two months after the much-needed repairs, the government said today.
Services on the 16-month-old metro route were suspended after Reliance Infrastructure, its operator, reported some defects in the civil structure.
''Reliance Infrastructure reported that there are some defects in the civil structure. There are problems with the bearing, which is the interface between the pillar and girder. Repairs have to be done below the girders and it is in odd kind of locations,'' urban development secretary Sudhir Krishna said.
Reliance Infra has reported problems on the 23-km line with the bearing, which is the interface between the pillar and girder. Trains run at over 100 km per hour on the route.
Nearly 230 of the 2,100 bearings on the elevated section of the corridor needed correction, according to Reliance Infra.
Krishna said Reliance Infra had insisted that the operations should be suspended till the repairs are done.
