Washington: Even as India opens its economic frontiers and ratchets up an impressive pace of growth US secretary of commerce, Gary Locke, is all set to start his trip here next month at the head of a high-powered trade delegation which will include representatives from a mix of 24 big, medium and small high-technology companies dealing in nuclear energy, aviation and defence products.

It will also include some top firms like GE, Boeing and Lockheed Martin.

Some of these firms were earlier barred from trading with India because of US controls.

There was a veritable rush to be part of the delegation with 70 applicants in the queue for 24 available slots.

"Exports are leading the US economic recovery, spurring future economic growth and creating jobs in America," Locke said in a statement.

"The business leaders joining me on this mission see the great potential to sell their goods and services to India, helping drive innovation and create jobs in both countries, " Locke said.
