The United States has offered to help solve the euro zone debt crisis even as the two sides of the Atlantic continued to focus on growing their economies and creating jobs for themselves.
The US stands ready to help Europe resolve its ongoing economic crisis, President Barack Obama said on the sidelines of a summit with European Council president Heramn Van Rompuy and Europen Commission president Jose Manuel Baroso.
''The United States stands ready to do our part to help them (the EU) resolve this issue. This is of huge importance to our own economy. If Europe is contracting or if Europe is having difficulties, then it's much more difficult for us to create good jobs here at home because we send so many of our products and services to Europe; it is such an important trading partner for us,'' President Obama said.
''We've got a stake in their success, and we will continue to work in a constructive way to try to resolve this issue in the near future,'' Obama said during a summit meeting with the European Union.
''If Europe is contracting or if Europe is having difficulties, then it's much more difficult for us to create good jobs here at home because we send so many of our products and services to Europe; it is such an important trading partner for us,'' Obama said as he hosted the US-EU Summit at the White House.
Noting that the European Union and the United States have the strongest trade and economic relationship in the world, EC president Heramn Van Rompuy said both need to take strong action to address the near-term growth concerns as well as fiscal and financial vulnerabilities to strengthen the world economy.
