Forex reserves up at US$165.367bn, as on August 18

Mumbai: Total forex reserves moved up by US$273 million, to a total of US$165.367 billion in the period August 11-18, 2006, according to RBI's weekly statistical supplement released on August 25, 2006.

Foreign currency and assets during the week went up by USD 273 million to US$158.042 billion, the reserve position in the IMF remained unchanged on US$767 million during the period under consideration. The Special Drawing Rights (SDRs), and the country`s gold reserves, remained constant at their previous level of US$1 million and US$6.557 billion respectively.

Foreign currency assets expressed in US dollar terms include the effect of appreciation/depreciation of non-US currencies, such as the Euro, Sterling and Yen that are currently held in reserves.
