The total revenue collection under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in May 2019 stood at Rs1,00,289 crore, showing an year-on-year growth of 6.67 per cent compared to revenue of Rs94,016 crore in May 2018, official data released on Saturday showed.
This included Central GST (CGST) of Rs17,811 crore, State GST (SGST) of Rs24,462 crore, Integrated GST (IGST) of Rs49,891 crore (which include Rs24,875 crore collected on imports) and cess amounting to Rs8,125 crore (including Rs953 crore collected on imports).
The total number of GSTR 3B returns filed for the month of April (up to 31 May 2019) stood at 7.245 million.
The government has apportioned Rs18,098 crore to CGST and Rs14,438 crore to SGST from IGST as regular settlement. The total revenue earned by the central government and the state governments after regular settlement in the month of May 2019 stood at Rs35,909 crore for CGST and Rs38,900 crore for SGST.
Revenue in May 2018 was Rs94,016 crore and the revenue during May 2019 is a growth of 6.67 per cent over the revenue in the same month last year. The revenue in May 2019 is 2.21 per cent higher than the monthly average of GST revenue in FY 2018-19 (Rs98,114 crore).
Rs18,934 crore has been released to the states as GST compensation for the months of February-March 2019. The chart shows trends in revenue during the current year.
