Yogi launches fresh I-T raids against UP bureaucrats
24 May 2017
The Income Tax Department, apparently acting on the directives of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, today conducted raids on a few bureaucrats in different locations in the state.
The raids are being carried out in six cities of UP covering 15 locations and involving four officials of the state government.
According to ANI, the raids are taking place in the premises of the Additional CEO Greater Noida Authority, a senior officer in the UP health ministry and RTO Mamta Sharma.
Last month, the I-T department had conducted raids on four government functionaries in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand covering 20 premises, and approximately Rs10 crore of undisclosed money was allegedly found.
Apart from this, the Adityanath government has also started a fight against corruption in petrol pumps. The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force raided many petrol pumps in the state capital Lucknow last month and arrested 2 people. It also raided two petrol pumps in Muzaffarnagar following the irregularities found in fuel dispensing machines.
According to the PTI, Muzaffarnagar's District Supply Officer Madan Yadav had led a team raiding a petrol pump in the district. The raid in Lucknow, however, was carried out by the STF, and 10 petrol pump workers had been detained by the police in the state capital.
