Chennai: In a silent move, Birla Sun Life Insurance Company has elevated K S Gopalakrishnan as its appointed actuary. Earlier a chief actuary, Gopalakrishnan takes over from Peter Akers, who was holding a dual position appointed actuary and chief financial officer. Akers continues to hold the second position in the company.
Two other insurance outfits belonging to the Bajaj Auto group Bajaj Allianz General Insurance and Allianz Bajaj Life Insurance will get new CEOs. While Sam Ghosh, currently CEO of the general insurance venture, will move over to the life insurance company as its head honcho, his colleague Kamesh Goyal is likely to be promoted to Ghosh's place in the general insurance company.
The changes are likely to come into effect from 1 January 2004. In the meantime, James Walton, the present CEO of the life insurance company, is expected to assume a different position within the Allianz group in Asia.
Once the changes take effect, the number of expats heading domestic life insurance ventures will come down to two Stuart Purdy, Aviva Life Insurance Company; Ian Watts, Tata AIG Life Insurance Company; and Yvo Metzelaar.
Though
