Hyderabad-based 160by2.com, a free SMS service provider, for the first time in the country has launched a free international SMS service. The service is available to mobile phones with internet connectivity across India and to UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines.

The application has triggered 1,17,760 downloads in just a month. The service is open to all 160by2.com registered users in India and enables free SMS connectivity to mobiles in these countries.

The service aims to help people who wish to keep in touch with their closed ones abroad, but could not do so because of high costs.

The free-to-download mobile application brings in a new dimension to SMSing and backup as users of this service can use the mobile's native phone book contacts while sending a message.

The application can be downloaded from: http://m.160by2.com/app. Once installed, one has to register and start sending messages. The 250kb application runs on mobile phones with internet connection supported with Symbian or Java operating systems.

Another unique feature of this application is that it allows the user to use the inbox / sent messages folders at no cost. The user can also access the phone book on the mobile to send these messages. One can also save mobile phone book on 160by2.com as a back-up.
