MTV redesigns UK website
27 Feb 2009
MTV UK is launching the second phase in the development of its website.
In the first week of February this year, MTV Networks UK and Ireland
had repositioned its web portal www.mtv.co.uk as a youth, music and entertainment destination for the 16-34-year-olds.
The site is now a destination for all things MTV - its music and entertainment programming in a revamped homepage, editorial scoops and exclusive video content.
The site is being redesigned to give better navigation. It will introduce a new search engine to give users faster access to information on artists and shows.
The site will use trend forecasting, SEO and social media tools to boost traffic. CRM will be used more extensively to promote individual shows such as The Hills, Cribs and Pimp My Ride. The music and entertainment channel will also introduce brand partnerships.
The website recently launched an online Media Player where users can create and share playlists of clips through social media links.
The website's revamp follows a 100 per cent increase in the number of unique visitors, 50 million video streams and 83 million page impressions. The average time users spent online also increased by 40 per cent to more than 10 minutes.
